broken doe

Posted by tbwoolys on September 4, 2010 at 9:35 PM

Hi

I know a lot of people have been wanting me to leave The broken Sr. Doe home. She has had 11 months of good luck. 18 legs with a lot of bob and a bris but today I went to the rabbitry and her coat looked a little ruffled and I thought her neighbor might have been chewing on it and I reached in the cage and a handful fell out . She is in full molt. Her new coat is about 1 quarter of an inch. She is entered in the fair show. I don't know what to do for a back up and I have a self that is going to get a

new ear#. My jr buck has lost his guard hair but I guess he will go anyway. With two big shows coming up this is a disapointment that the rabbits that are allready entered have molted.I had my finger crossed they would be good for two more weeks. I bred the broken to Pete Lefty which I now own. I also bred Lefty to her two sisters. so I should have lots of broken.I bred 3 other does. I am going to foster off the broken does babies if it is a sucessful breeding.

On a good note I had a baby born this week to a doe that I didn't thing that was going to have any.She had 3 . One dead, one peanut ,and one black, a good one.

I have the week off from babysitting this week so I am going to work in the house a couple of days and then go to the rabbitry. I spend way too  much time in the rabbitry. I plan to go ride my horse one day this week. Take care I'll see you at the show. Tresia

show season

Posted by tbwoolys on August 18, 2010 at 12:46 PM

Hi everone

I haven't done a lot but clean cages and babysit lately. I have 3 babies in the nestbox. I have bred 4 does for sept. I want to get a few babies  before cold weather. The show entries are in for the flecher show. I will be going to Kitty's show if any one is interested in my sale page.

Brandy and Pete are going out of rabbits for a while. I sure will miss them. They have been a real blessing. I am hoping they will change their mind.I am having a hard time contacking Brandy if you are reading this I would like to get yeow back if you still have him. I wish them the best .

A lot of people are getting out of rabbits . I guess the economy people aren't buying many rabbits and it is hard to keep a rabbitry going when you haft to buy all feed and rabbit stuff on other income.

I am always looking for a less expensive way to run my rabbitry like keeping the # down. But that is a hard one also.take care and will see you soon at a show. Tresia

Posted by tbwoolys on May 22, 2010 at 7:35 PM

Hi all

I know the garden need rain but the humity was so high today. I have concrete floors and it was not drying. I cleaned cages and set up a couple then had some things i needed to do like buy gro.

I had a litter yesterday looks like a black and blue out of a chestnut doe. The black could be a chestnut. It sounds like everone had nice litters this year.I have several rabbits that are going to be pets or brood. ONe litter out of a broken doe, had two blacks with little white spots and one nice marked but no nose marking and he feel so nice I may keep him but that is the probable . It is a him and so are the other two. I have a litter of 6 beatiful marked 5 are bucks. I bred dd half sister to a broken. I am looking forward to seing that litter.I will need to start separating them before long. I have 3 orange. two are bucks and i'm not sure about the other. I have 3 otters. one

1blue.two black.rew,chestnuts. I don't have any shaded babies in my rabbitry but I get one from

judy , brandy. I may have a litter that has shaded but I need to start moving out some soon.I get too many rabbit real quick.

I didn't go to the Columbia show. I have been sick and I just couldn't see me getting up at 4 in the morning and I was afraid i would get a backset. I haven't been this sick in a long time and I sure want to give myself time to heal.I will be at Taylorville the 29 nothing happens.

I have 15 buff orpinton chicks to hatch. They are for sale.Tresia

Mother day surprise

Posted by tbwoolys on May 10, 2010 at 3:36 PM

I had a litter born that I had put the nest box in for but didn't think she caught. Boy was I surprise to see 5 babies in that box . I think two were peanut. I have a few more does to have babies then I guess that will be all I breed for a while. Some of mine are in the ugly stage and some are just coming out of the box. I guess the most exciting litter is a litter of 6 with 5 being nice marked

broken and the other a blue. The other rabbits are doing pretty good. i am looking forward to the next show whick i hope to be columba.my grandaughter had a bad cold last week and I u can guess who has one this week. I thought about going to the dr since my lungs were hurting where i had cough and nothing come up. I reconize that as being pneomonia I have had it 3 times

in my life so if not better tomorrow i will break down and call the dr. I had a good mother day. My husband ,son and I went out and eat.Daughter-in-law and baby went to her moms. My call duck is finally setting. I have buff orpinon chickens in the incubator. I wanted to see if I could make it work. So if any one is interested in baby chicks I probable be selling them. I will be keeping most of my rabbits to see how they are going to turn out and maybe selling one here and there.Another litter I am excited about is a doe that is the grandmother of BOS at the National. She has a rew and a chestnut. I love the rew so round and cute. Good luck to all got to catch up with the bella ,Grandbaby. Tresia

Big mistake

Posted by tbwoolys on May 1, 2010 at 10:35 PM

Hi

I guess everone makes mistakes in the rabbitry but this was the worse one I have made. I seen a doe with hay in her mouth. I think did i breed her and I didn't remember breeding her so I looked in my book .I have always remembered to write them in. No i didn't have her as bred so I take her to the buck . she jumps on him like she wanted to breed. So after a while he bred her . Well the first thing I saw this morning was dead babies on the wire . one blue and one broken like the one I have been showing. Same mom and dad. I have beat my self up all day over this one.  I have her last litter but I am looking for another like the one i have. Outside that all the rest are doing good. All six of the broken I had a few days ago are still doing good. I have a tort, rews ,chestnuts, oranges, blue otter, black otter.blacks, and brokens babies so I will have all cages full before long.I have a siamese sable doe bred. She is a good size doe but the last time, which was her first time she had a rew.It is such a small thing. I have waited and waited and it is going to take a while longer to see how she is going to turn out. Isn't that the way when you waiting on one it takes forever. It seems like I am doing a lot of work and getting little showing done. My cages are filling up fast and with all of them full I have about 68 cages. That's not going to happen. Some will be for sale.I have one line that i am tring to get through the ugly stage. I have two broken bucks that are coming in pretty good. I have a couple of does that are off of their weight. I am feeding the oatmeal on top of their feed and good hay.I have been watching the water. I have a water system but I cut it off during the winter but I get afraid they want go to the

needle so I put in bowl, water bottles or cups whatever it takes to make sure they get water.

I have also hung the fly strips. take care Tresia

New litters

Posted by tbwoolys on April 30, 2010 at 8:59 PM

Hi

I have a new litter. A nice broken siamese sable doe had 6 . Five were broken and a blue. I think that is my biggest litter. The doe isn't very big so I just kept digging and oh my gooodness. They all have good markings but one and it doesn't have a body marking. I fostered it with another doe that only had one. I will probable be selling some of my jr just as soon as I figure out which ones

I like the best. It looks like I will have a lot of good babies and then I have those  orange ones

that keep showing up. I want be keeping any of those. Iknow there are some goods ones in them but I'm not doing orange. I have all my nest boxes in use. So far I have had two does miss one was a first timer and had one peanut and a big one that was born dead. The other I think is getting too old. She had 2 live but she didn't take care of them.I have at least 7 litters. I forgot for sure. I probable want breed during the summer. It will probable take all summer to pick through the ones i have . Bella is helping me feed. She waste my pellets, tries to eat the hay and carries around the water jugs and puts rocks in them. At least she tries to help. All the rabbits are doing good. I have a few that I would like to gain some weight but I am working on that feeding oatmeal with pellets. I am looking forward to the next show. I have been toying with the idea of going to

Tenn. but proable will wait to Columba show. other animals we had a filly born two weeks ago

It is nice to have a filley we have been having colts . I have two call ducks but not too happy with them. They layed an egg about 3 weeks ago and then another a couple days ago not much to work with. Well that is about it for here. Tresia
